Sam
Roffe, president of a multi-national pharmaceutical corporation,
is killed while mountain-climbing. It is first determined to be
an accident, but Inspector Max Hormung later deduces that Roffe
was murdered. Sam's daughter Elizabeth assumes control of the company,
and while traveling through Europe she immediately becomes a target
as well. Suspicion falls on the Roffe cousins, all of whom want
to go public with the company and sell their stock at a huge profit.
Since this would be against her father's wishes, Elizabeth rejects
their advice and decides to keep the company within the family.
As Inspector Hormung investigates the background of the cousins,
more attempts are made on Elizabeth's life. Hoping to reveal the
guilty party, Hormung is able to connect these attempts to a series
of murders on prostitutes, which are recorded on snuff films (Here) |

A junior executive
(Giancarlo Giannini) is exasperated with his sexually repressed
wife (Angela Molina) in this black comedy dripping with satire.
The couple later ends up in bed with the man's mistress (Ombretta
Colli) for a menage a trois. The man is pestered by his frantic
friend Gualitiero (Paolo Bonacelli), who is convinced that someone
is out to kill him. Ada (Aurore Clement) is the worried man's
nymphomaniacal wife who is always on the outlook for some kinky
sex. The theme is that human triviality and hang-ups hamper the
quests of basic needs that can lead to a satisfying existence.

Reviews
Now here's a real oddity : a one time only directorial effort
from highly regarded Japanese author Masuo Ikeda, with Italian
co-funding in order to sidestep strict as well as erratic Nipponese
censorship laws (to little avail as it would turn out), shot superbly
(by Mario Vulpiani who photographed the underrated giallo THE
BLOODSTAINED SHADOW and Stuart Gordon's delirious CASTLE FREAK)
on the ever photogenic Greek isles. Protagonist is a handsome
young artist named Nikos (Claudio Aliotti from Lucio Fulci's GHOSTS
OF SODOM) who lives in a boarding house run by love-starved divorc¨¦e
Elda (Olga Karlatos, Mrs. One Eye from Fulci's ZOMBI 2) and her
retarded daughter who has a serious crush on the womanizing painter.
This initially exploitable character is played surprisingly (and
indelibly) well by teen actress Sandra Dobrigna - billed here
as Sandra Dobri - who you may recall as the little girl from the
opening scenes of THE PYJAMA GIRL CASE. Her mere presence in what
is essentially a sex film (relax, she's nowhere to be seen once
textile is shed) gives a disturbing edge to this hothouse melodrama.
Well, Ikeda IS Japanese, after all. The film's most explicit(though
not hardcore) scenes involve Nikos and a pair of Swedish tourists,
smoldering brunette Stefania Casini (from Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA)
and a glowingly youthful, soon to become porn icon Ilona Staller
a.k.a. la Cicciolina herself ! These two exquisite women share
the movie's single most memorable carnal encounter as they languidly
make love in a very white bedroom setting as Nikos is forced to
watch from the sidelines. Ennio Morricone's plaintive score adds
just the right touch of melancholy and foreboding doom this somewhat
overwrought but impossible to forget miniature Greek tragedy demands.
Check it out if you can find it. (Here)

After
the recently re-elected President of a fictitious state has been

A meek book-keeper
(Vittorio) brings on his squallid life, which is interrupetd when
he becomes friend with a policeman (Sauro). Vittorio is introduced
to gun shooting, and appears to be very gifted. This fact gives
a shake to his dull existence, but when he gets in trouble with
gangsters, he'll regret the past.(Here)
An excellent
dramatic movie featuring the great Nino Manfredi. Indeed, between
'Il giocattolo' (literally 'the toy') and 'Taxi driver' there
are big differences, but also one common ground: how a man entrapped
in a boring life is fascinated by guns and tries to fight his
way out. The italian film is more dramatic and pessimistic. Both
are excellent movies. I suppose it is nearly impossible for americans
to see this one, anyway, if you ever get a chance..(Here)

Shot in the
Tuscan countryside, "Il prato" examines the possibilities
of realizing what could be termed Utopian ideals in the Marxist-agrarian
context of developing a direct understanding of the land as a
source of spiritual and material nourishment. The landscape of
multi-towered San Gimignano is used as a focus of the conflicting
emotions of three protagonists: an agricultural student, a young
woman whose passion is political theatre (Isabella Rossellini),
and a former law student whose real passion is cinema. Also starring
Saverio Marconi, who had the lead role in the Taviani Brothers'
"Padre Padrone" and Giulio Brogi, seen in their "Saint
Michael Had a Rooster." Written by italiangerry (Here)

Giovanni li accompagna all'aereo e, mentre li vede

Recently widowed
American opera diva Caterina takes her teenaged son Joe with her
on a long singing tour to Italy. Absorbed in her hectic work in
various Verdi operas around Rome, Caterina is soon shocked to
discover that her troubled and lonely son has become a heroin
addict. Her desperate attempts to wean the youth off the drug
result in an incestuous relationship, but also in a possibility
to reunite Joe--maybe even herself--with his real father, whose
existence she has kept a secret from him.(Here)

As
1973 winds down, Franco is still governing Spain with an iron hand.
Opposition parties are forbidden; labor movements are repressed;
and Basque nationalists are mercilessly hunted down. The caudillo
is aging, though, and the continuity of the r¨¦gime is in question.
One man has the trust of Franco, enough authority and experience
to assume the leadership, and an impeccable track record as to dealing
with enemies of the State: admiral Carrero Blanco. For the embattled
clandestine Basque organization ETA, Carrero Blanco must be brought
down. Daring plans are made, requiring a meticulous execution...(Here)

A
six-part French tv series first broadcast in 1979, each episode of
Orient Express focuses on a different tale of a journey on the legendary
train; each one is set between the outbreak of the First World War
and the outbreak of the Second. Ennio Morricone provided the music.
Morricone¡¯s score is everything you might imagine ¨C at times romantic,
at times suspenseful, always evocative. The score is essentially built
from two themes, as one may discern from the tracklisting ¨C 18 of
the 19 tracks are called either ¡°Che Senso Ha¡± or ¡°Orient Express¡±.
But that¡¯s a little misleading ¨C this isn¡¯t one of those Morricone
albums where the same piece of music is repeated over and over again.
He sends the first theme through many different variations, and some
of the tracks labelled ¡°Orient Express¡± seem to have no relationship
with each other at all.
They¡¯re both
gorgeous themes. ¡°Che Senso Ha¡± is given a couple of vocal arrangements
(sung by Maria Rigel Tonini); a few Dixieland-style arrangements
(yes, really); but most Morricone enthusiasts will take most pleasure
from the stunning arrangements for solo piano and the piece de resistance,
the orchestral version which opens the album. The other theme, ¡°Orient
Express¡±, is also stunning in its orchestral arrangement. Some of
the later pieces which share its name are actually ear-splitting
pieces of suspense music, extraordinarily unsettling ¨C and, as with
most such Morricone, a hard slog indeed for the listener. Finally,
there¡¯s ¡°Le Train¡±, a beautiful theme (with a slight pop beat) given
the unmistakable Edda dell¡¯Orso treatment. It¡¯s not a classic piece
of Morricone/dell¡¯Orso, but it is of course worth hearing ¨C many
times! This 2004 CD marked the first time anything apart from ¡°Le
Train¡± and an orchestral arrangement of the ¡°Orient Express¡± theme
had been released at all; and the prettiness of the melodic material
makes it well worth seeking out.(Here)

Attivissimo come aiuto
e corretta col sale dell'ironia.
di lungometraggio.(Here)
(Spain) Gracias
